What other veterinarians say about us

John Coplin, DVM

Jim and his team have been critical partners, practice managers, accountants, and financial advisors since I purchased our first mix animal practice.  Starting our first business was scary and I dreaded the lofty task of accounting for and managing a practice.  After all, I had no previous business experience.

The JF Bell Group made our lives easier right from the start!  They helped design, organize, and implement all of our financial systems and controls, providing just what we needed to successfully grow our practice.  Since we purchased our first clinic in 1999, they helped us evaluate, and now manage a second clinic purchased in 2005.  Today, they’re advising us as we prepare to close on a third practice in the spring of 2018.

JF Bell Group is proactive.  They watch every aspect of our practices, spend time with us and they help celebrate our successes while also keeping an eye on areas that need attention.  Jim and his awesome team truly understand the veterinary business and have been instrumental in our success.  We are proud to recommend the JF Bell Group!

We have been using the JF Bell Group to help us track and manage the finances of Northgate Animal Hospital for over twenty-five years.  Like many solopreneurs, we struggled running the practice and making good financial decisions.  We discovered very early that running a practice is hard work and not a one person job.  Fortunately, the JF Bell Group stepped in and partnered with us to keep our financial affairs in excellent shape.

Over the years, Jim and his team helped educate us and provide the business and financial services needed as we grew our practice.  They advise us and handle all of our accounting and tax needs.  Their insight of our profession is exceptional.

Today, their expertise is proving invaluable as together we are in the process of selling our practice and transitioning into post veterinary retirement.  We LOVE working with Jim and his team!

Guy Pidgeon, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM (Small Animal), Retired

I was happy to hear that the J.F. Bell Group, headed by Jimmy Bell, CPA, intends to limit their practice and exclusively serve the veterinary profession.  Retired now, my career included stops in academe, the pet food industryand not-for-profit management.  I’ve worked with a number of excellent CPAs and found Mr. Bell to be prompt, analytic, thoughtful and pleasant.

I served as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance, Investment and Audit Committee for the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine for 3 years.  We were fortunate to recruit Mr. Bell to provide a CPA’s expertise for a committee otherwise comprised of veterinarians.  He generously volunteered his time and was a significant contributor during the year we worked together.

Please consider Mr. Jimmy Bell, CPA and the J. F. Bell Group for your accounting needs.

Brad J. Francis, DVM

Approximately ten years ago a few of my colleagues and myself started an emergency clinic in Idaho Falls with the help of Jim Bell, CPA. At the time Jim was recommended to us due to the fact he had several local veterinary businesses as clients. jim has fulfilled a role of not only our accountant but an advisor to the business. He has been one of our advisors we trust helping us make decisions with management and profitability of the business.

I have been a practicing veterinarian for over 30 years. As veterinarians, we just want to practice medicine the first few years and then gradually get into the business aspect as we buy into practices. Most of us do not have the education to do so and spend many years making management and costly financial mistakes. We tend to think our personal accountants are watching out for us, but many times we get a monthly bill, and oh by the way you owe several thousand in taxes this year! Most veterinarians are frugal in their spending habits, but honestly, we should probably be budgeting for practice management consultants.

Solutions By JF Bell Group, a practice management consultant will benefit our business and veterinary profession immensely. We have certainly seen the results with our veterinary emergency clinic business. Jim has been able to offer solutions with staffing, business management, and profitability issues without business. I would personally recommend any veterinary business needing help with management of their practice to give Jim and his group an opportunity to grow and profit from his expertise.

Jim Bell has been our accountant since opening our mixed animal practice in eastern Idaho in 1978.  There is no way we would even consider changing accountants.

Jim’s knowledge, dedication and sound financial advice were invaluable as the practice grew through the years.  He was also extremely helpful when, after 25 years of practice, I made a career change and became a consultant for Pfizer Animal Health and later for Zoetis.  My wife Lin and I still rely on Jim and his talented staff as we make the transition into retirement.

Jim’s many years of experience with our practice as well as with many other veterinary clinics makes him an ideal choice for veterinarians and their staff, whether just starting a practice or transitioning into retirement.

Jim Bell has been our accountant since opening our mixed animal practice in eastern Idaho in 1978.  There is no way we would even consider changing accountants.

Idaho Falls Veterinary Emergency Clinic has been using the services of JF Bell group for several years.  We initially started with using the accounting services for tax return purposes and then soon engaged them for their bill paying management, payroll, and financial statement services as well.  I have been very pleased with the quality of the service and enjoyed the confidence of knowing these items were being handled properly for my business. This allows me to focus on the medical side of the practice, which is the reason I chose this profession.

Jim has been very helpful when we have transitioned between partner ownership.  Whether partners are buying in or being bought out, or with partners buying a majority share.  Jim provided guidance on the process to make sure we were proceeding properly and as well as information on valuation so that we all felt comfortable that the agreement was fair and equitable.

Jim and Mira continue to expand their knowledge of the veterinary field by attending veterinary conferences.  Jim is also a member of the ACVIM board.  I think this gives them a great perspective of the veterinary practice and its unique management requirements.
